What sort of artificial environments? Holographic projections, simulation displays, or actual, physical form?

I am accustomed to holographic projections with magnetically generated force fields to give the illusion of solidity, but this seems to be actual form. It is likely generated from a matter reconstructor of a technology I am unfamiliar with.

I've never seen magnetically created force fields! It makes sense, though, the repelling forces give the impression of depth and substance. But it can't really replace reality. Food would feel the same, but it wouldn't taste the same, or be nutritional.

Pre-warp era. Is this like the disco era? I missed that one.

No, it did not. Matter reconstructors are usually utilized to produce nutritional items. A base sample of carbon an various metals are reproportioned in preprogrammed patterns. We called them "replicators". They were excellent when in need of spare parts.

That's amazing. Did you use reconfigured nanotechnology to reproportion the carbon, or were genetic laser modification tools used?

A little bit. I discovered Barry Manilow and the Copa Cabana. Such a tragic love story.

By gridding up the genetic coding of the carbon you can refigure it the easiest, mapping grid point to genetic point. If it's on a 2-dimensional scale, I can see the malfunction capabilities. Milk and soda have the same code if you look at them straight on. You'd need a three-dimensional database.

Oh! [he takes a bite of his pez and talks around the candy] It's this story of a dancer named Lola. She falls in love with this man named Tony at a nightclub, but they're pulled apart by a wealthy man named Rico. It's a late 1970's inspirational piece about unnecessary violence and the lives it destroys.

It is on a three dimensional scale, once more energy efficient and compact equipment was developed. I am supposing the CES works similarly, along with environmental regulation.

[Jarod nods] Rico and Tony end up fighting, though the story isn't entirely clear about who shoots who, only that Tony ends up the victim, and Lola is so utterly devastated by his death that she goes insane. It's as much a cautionary tale as a modern tragedy.

Even if you are made to "forget", the basic knowledge should form an imprint on your long-term memory so that you might reform the essentials. [He's not too worried about Jarod knowing. After all, he might be meant to invent something.]

It seems cautionary in many ways. There are moral implications in that the woman courted a man in what was likely an establishment indulging in many vices, and crew the attention of a powerful individual whom she did not intend. At least, from your description. I suppose that I will actually have to listen to the song and analyze the lyrics more thoroughly.
